Shauna Kelly - Proprietor

Owner and manager Shauna Kelly was born into a world of good food and entrepreneurial spirit.  Her father Sean is the well known butcher from artisan butchers Kelly’s of Newport, located right next door where her brothers and uncle also work. It seems it was written in the stars for Shauna to join the family in their quest to bring good food to everyone.

 

However food and the hospitality industry weren’t Shauna’s first choice of career. She studied Social Care in Sligo and worked with Western Care for a number of years before answering the call of adventure and travelling with friends in Asia and Australia where she discovered new and wonderful cuisines. However being a home bird, Shauna returned to Newport and her roots. Encouraged by her family and confident in her love of food, she opened Kelly’s Kitchen in April 2012. Supported by an exceptional team, she has discovered the truth in her father’s maxim: ‘work is not work when you love what you do’.

As well as managing Kelly’s Kitchen, Shauna is mother to an amazing little boy, Darragh.

Honor Ryder

Gifted baker Honor Ryder has been with Kelly’s Kitchen since the very early days. She began her career in prestigious Newport House where she first fell in love with the world of baking. She is self-taught and has an insatiable urge to learn everything about her craft.

 

She is the person responsible for that incredible aroma of fresh baking in Kelly’s Kitchen as she makes a remarkable array of cakes, tarts and scones from scratch each morning. Honor is quick and neat and can whip up a dessert in record time. All calorie free of course ....

Martin Hughes

Back in 2014 Martin Hughes started work in Kelly’s Kitchen and immediately became an integral part of the team front of house. With his ready smile and quick wit as well as the best of service, he is well known to all customers. ‘Service with a smile’ is definitely his motto.

​

Martin is a man of many talents; he is a professional dance and music teacher and is also an amateur actor. He’s been known to dance a few steps in Kelly’s Kitchen too. Be ready for fun when Martin is around.
